"Representing the Modern Animal in Culture is a collection of twelve essays that investigate representations of animals and of the lives they share with humans. Starting with the eighteenth century but focusing on primarily the nineteenth century through the present day, these essays two sets of differences: the multifarious modes of representations that have materialized from the publication of Gulliver's Travels to The Hunger Games, and the range of animal lives, and human-animal relationships, that have emerged over this time.
