The whole of the Netherlands passes by sculptures by Wilfried Put (1932 De Rijp - 2016 Amsterdam): they are located in busy shopping streets and squares in Amersfoort, Amsterdam, Zandvoort, Bolsward, Hillegom and Rotterdam. Yet his name is not widely known. Wilfried Put liked to stay in the background, quietly working on an oeuvre that was especially appreciated by lovers of sculpture and colleagues, including Piet Esser and Charlotte van Pallandt. His images and medals can best be characterized as contemporary figurative: powerful compositions with a clear structure of volumes. His portrait medals of the painter Breitner and the sculptor Charlotte van Pallandt are highlights of Dutch medal art.
