La Araucana
"THE ARAUCANIAD" tells the events in the Araucanians war of emancipation against the Spanish invasion of their territory. This invasion was an inhuman destruction of their villages and their way of life. Young toqui Lautaro trained the indians in the art of war, ho0rse riding and husbandry. Lautaro was 18 y.o. when hye run away from Spanish slavery and organized the Araucanians in the art of defensive war. Don Alonso de Er5cilla was an Spanish young noble who witnessed the Ar5aucanians nobvle resistance and the atrocities perpetrated by the Spaniards and dedicated his Epic poem to the People of Arauco and his Heroes.
