Sons and Lovers
Sons and Lovers is said to be ostensibly the first English novel with an authentic working-class background. Readers will find the descriptions of the relationship between the hero Paul Morel and his mother, and his other relationships with two quite differing women, absolutely fascinating. A tragedy of work and love, the novel is a psychological insight into Lawrence’s own life and a wonderful landmark of autobiographical serious fiction.
