In 2002, the Boston Globe reported widespread child sexual abuse by Catholic clergy and the transferring of abusive priests from parish to parish. One small group of Catholics began to advocate the support of victims of abuse of non-abusive priests, and structural change in the Catholic Church so that abuse would no longer occur.
