These short stories, written in French by Pierre Furlan while he was the French writer in residence at the Randell Writers Cottage of Wellington, are illustrated by Belgian artist Olivier Sonck. The title, Paekakariki, is a Maori word describing a parrot sitting on a perch. In the book, it's also the beach located about sixty miles north-west of Wellington.
