In the course of his travels across the United States, Blackman found himself drawn to the old, nonfunctiong gas pumps that once dispensed leaded gasoline and to the old pickup trucks that used it, some of them lovingly restored and maintained, others left to ruin in fields and backyards. The trucks and gas pumps beautifully depicted here come from far-flung locations--everywhere from a few miles from the artist's New Hampshire home to Maui, Hawai'i.
