Anthony Powell

Powell is best known for the 12 novel series, "A Dance to the Music of Time". This much earlier work highlights the development of Powell's signature style of documenting social interactions and the affairs of young gentlemen and women of the higher social set. Powell is able to capture the mundane and the comic aspects of daily life. Set in the English countryside, this novel follows Zouch, an artist and city boy trying to establish a decent match despite disgruntled parents and a side attraction that could scuttle the affair.
