Making United States foreign policy

This resource packet is designed to provide teachers and civic educators with an understanding of the making of U.S. foreign policy. The materials may be used as the basis for classes and programs to teach about foreign policy and cover such topics as: (1) how foreign policy is made in the United States; (2) the role of the president, the executive branch, and of Congress; (3) selected past foreign policy decisions and the role of the President, the executive branch, and the Congress had in the making of the decisions; and (4) how a citizen can have an effect on the foreign policy process, and become involved in the process. The material provided includes program and curriculum ideas, discussion questions, a reading list, resources, and organizations with related resources. (Nl).
