This book is a guide to 30 Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) games. It describes each game, the story, character's abilities, how the game is scored and things to avoid. It gives beginner and advanced strategies, as well as help at various difficult points in the game. Occasionally passwords to more advanced levels are also presented. Each game is rated according to its Challenge, Graphics, and Sound, using A+ to F grade ratings. It is the first book in his series of ten 'How to Win at' series. It was proceeded by his book 'The Complete Guide to Conquering Video Games' from 1982. This series would later be followed by his 'Gamemaster' series, and a later series also called "How to Win at", but written by Hank Schlesinger, with no connection to this series by Rovin, except that it was also published by St. Martin's Press.
