More than 1.5 million Americans have served in the embattled countries of Iraq and Afghanistan, but fewer than five hundred of them have earned America's highest military honors: the Silver Star, Navy Cross, Air Force Cross, Distinguished Service Cross, and Medal of Honor. They are earned by exemplifying courage, honor, loyalty, and sacrifice in the line of duty. Here are these soldiers' stories in their own words.
