Vital records of Biddeford, Maine prior to 1856
The vital records of Biddeford have not been microfilmed making this volume of immeasurable value to the researcher. The town of Biddeford is often called the oldest settlement in the state of Maine and vital records have been kept continuously since 1718. Record keeping first began in the 1650s and was interrupted only during the forty-year wars with the Indians. The author also has included in this volume records from Biddeford's First Congregational Church for the period 1742-1781. These are the only known church records in existence before 1850.
