Throughout the twentieth century, very diverse intellectuals and writers have tried to find the keys to Argentine culture, those problematic knots that would explain our achievements and our social and political failures. Was the concentration of land in a few hands the main obstacle to development? Was the asymmetry between Buenos Aires and the interior? The resistance of the elites to the disorder of an immense immigration that demanded full citizenship? A tendency to grant power to personal leaders? Or the pretensions of the "Argentine half hair" and its prejudices regarding the popular sectors?
