September 5, 1520: with great precision, the gilded cross is placed on the crossing tower of the Bavo, 78 meters above the ground. The church is now officially 'finished', even though a lot would still be built, rebuilt and restored. This book describes the history of the Bavo, the social, religious and cultural significance of the church for the city of Haarlem, the interior, the glasses, the world-famous organ, the 'major restoration' by mainly Pierre Cuypers and many more aspects that Make Bavo one of the most beautiful Gothic churches in our country.
