Kristina Schuldt
Kristina Schuldt (1982, Moscow) creates her own visual language in her paintings. Figures reminiscent of Picasso or Léger sit in a miniskirt and platform soles behind a laptop. Thus, the avant-garde of the 1920s gets an update to the 2020s. Powerful and playful, the women in Schuldt's world move about. They are women who take up space, women who are vulnerable with bravado. Schuldt often paints from personal experience. The painting Muse, for example, reflects on the struggle with not getting around to painting. Kristina Schuldt lives and works in Leipzig. She is part of the Neue Leipziger Schule, the collective name for the fourth-generation Leipzig painters who received their training at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst.
