With 70 tapestries, taking place from the XVe to the XXe century, Saumur presents one of the most important heritage lissier of France. Some works are relevant to the chiefs of works of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance who do not have the largest museums, and most of them are unique pieces made for special commands. Numerous of them are protected under the title of Historical Monuments and are today still, as by the past, suspended during the summer in the churches, chapels and castles of the city.
