The village of Plessis-Robinson knows the enthusiasm of the Parisians who, from 1848, come in droves to frequent the taverns and their huts perched in the branches of large chestnut trees. A few years later, the city welcomed many inhabitants living in a garden city with a colony of Russian artists. In the years 1950-1970, the city becomes denser then, from 1980, it begins a profound urban transformation which illustrates a new way of thinking about the city based on diversity and the creation of streets and squares in the European tradition. François Spoerry, founder of lake towns, including Port-Grimaud, and promoter of soft architecture, gives the spirit of this enterprise of urban reconquest unique in France.
