Analyzes gender discourse in two grass-roots organizations that work for alternative forms of communication, one in Managua, Nicaragua, and one in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. Through experiences of members and of other local inhabitants, as well as those of author herself, text explores gender-based tensions and antagonisms in social and political practice of these organizations.
