" Olivo de Arena" revolves round an escape and the digging up of a chest: in the process, the chest is filled with sand and has a single word inscribed "Olvido" (Oblivion). Mario Opazo had the idea for this film after having been at a carnival where the children, dressed up as angels, were carrying on their shoulders, caskets which resembled coffins. During the procession they filed slowly down the streets dressed in black, their faces covered in flour, with an air of obedience, accompanied by the weeping of their mothers. Mario Opazo is a Chilean visual artist and audiovisual producer who lives in Colombia. He teaches at the National University of Colombia and has participated in more than a hundred worldwide exhibitions since 1991.
