Throughout the last 30 years, the Fundação Edson Queiroz -founder of the University of Fortaleza (Unifor)-, based in the city of Fortaleza (Ceará) in northeastern Brazil, has created one of the most substantial collections of Brazilian art inside Brazil. From religious images dating back to the colonial period to contemporary art, the collection assembled by Chancellor Airton Queiroz covers almost 400 years of artistic production, with significant works from all periods. The present catalogue comprises works produced between the 17th and 21st centuries, comprising the most distinct artistic schools, from baroque to contemporary, also including modernism and abstractionism.
