A history of the Kounicovy koleje in Brno, a dormitory for university students established in 1925, which was seized by the Gestapo and SS in late 1939 and served as a Gestapo prison from January 1940 until April 1945, a five-year period during which more than 30,000 prisoners were processed and 740 inmates were killed there. Written by a former prisoner with the aid of two professional historians, the monograph includes documentary photographs and a list of the prisoners who died at the hands of the Nazis.
