Aura latente
The work of critic and anthropologist Ticio Escobar (Asunción 1947) makes it clear many and valuable potentials of the condition of artistic work; in what is the most "globalized" of his works. Although independent, the essays that make up this book are connected through three topics that cross them transversally and link their contents: First, the criticism of Western aesthetics as a privileged source of art theory. Secondly, the concept of "Latency" in the sense of a virtuality contextualized art by established circuits and diverse cultural systems (practices, beliefs and diverse values) that needs to be activated. The third question concerns the link between art and politics.
