This volume, written by fourteen friends, colleagues and former students, is dedicated to Patrice Pomey, naval archaeologist specializing in Mediterranean Antiquity, emeritus research director of the CNRS, and who was director of the Department of Underwater Archaeological Research (French ministry of Culture) and the Camille Jullian Center (Aix-Marseille University, CNRS). Prefaced by André Tchernia and introduced by the editors, Giulia Boetto and Éric Rieth, this book has four parts which evoke the lines of research to which Patrice Pomey has devoted most of his career. Five articles on ancient Mediterranean naval archeology make up the first part, while the second, dedicated to naval iconography, includes two contributions.
