Each year through 1911 has a list of the top 10 works of fiction; for each year afterward the top 10 works of non-fiction are also listed. A half-page description of annual highlights often follows the lists. The volume also contains a chapter on American best sellers from 1880-1945, and another on best-selling books and authors before 1880.
